Dedicated to the memory of David Whitson

David was around boats for almost all his life.  He started sailing at a very young age and sold his last boat four years ago to concentrate on painting maritime subjects.  He loved sailing for pleasure in coastal waters, crossing the Channel frequently and enjoying all the sociability of sailing in company.  His professional life also often involved sailing.  He worked on many productions with a maritime theme from historic reconstructions, such as The Voyage of Charles Darwin (for which he won a BAFTA for photography) to filming on racing yachts, not just as an observer but as a member of the sailing crew.  In this way he competed in the Fastnet and Sydney/Hobart yacht races.  He even sailed on Suhaili with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.  For many years he has been an Offshore member of the RNLI and contributed to them every month.  Therefore we have decided that it is really appropriate to have the RNLI as the chosen charity for funeral donations.  Thank you for looking at our site.
